THE PARENTS of two children suffering with a neurological condition have set up a campaign centred on the Bracknell Half Marathon to raise money and awareness for the condition.

The two children of Lisa Hover and her partner Andy were diagnosed with Battens Disease, also known as CLN3.

The disease affects the nervous system during childhood and can affect vision, intellectual ability, movement and speech, as well as causing seizures.

On Sunday six employees at Mr Hover's workplace - Afton Chemical Ltd in Bracknell – will take on the 13 mile run for charity Battens Fighters Forever.

"They have run cake sales, guess the number of sweets and a team of 6 co-workers are running the (Bracknell) Half Marathon on the 7th May for our cause." Mrs Hover, of Ringwood, said.

"Beyond this, others are cycling from Lands end to John O'Groats in June, doing the London Marathon walk in September and planning other activities."

She described the help of these colleagues as "overwhelming", and hopes that as a result of their contributions, more people will be made aware of the disease.
