THE START date for major regeneration work in the town centre is ‘under constant review’, a partner of the project has said.
The Deck, a ‘vibrant new public space’ complete with shops, restaurants and bars, is set to go up where the former Bentall’s store stood.
It will link to Princess Square, which is being refurbished as part of a £30 million regeneration project led by the council and its development partners.

A start date for construction work on The Deck has not been set, but completion of the scheme was tipped for 2022.
But with the coronavirus pandemic causing delays and disruption across the country, the News asked Schroders — one of the partners involved in the town’s latest round of regeneration — for an update on when work might start on The Deck.
Harry Pickering, head of UK retail at Schroders, said: “We remain committed to investing in the redevelopment of Bracknell town centre, with plans underway which continue to evolve and improve Princess Square.

“We also remain committed to The Deck as the next major milestone in Bracknell town centre’s regeneration.
“The on-site start date is under constant review by the project team, but we will issue further updates as soon as we can.”
Revised plans for The Deck were submitted to the council in July and approved in August.
New drawings show a roof will go over the top of the regenerated space, meaning events such as food markets, open-air cinemas and concerts could take place underneath all-year-round.
In March, it was announced Hollywood Bowl and The Botanist cocktail bar would be the first of two tenants.
On commercial property site Realla, six retail units are marked as available to lease.

The rental costs for the units range in price from just more than £60,000 to £143,000 per annum.
All six units were listed one month ago and marked as being “available” from October 2020.
