AN ART treasure hunt around the town centre will be among the features of a new exhibition exploring the theme of boundaries.

The exhibition later this month is being staged by group ReOrsa, which seeks to promote not-for-profit artists in the region, and supported by Bracknell Regeneration Partnership.

'Boundaries and Beyond' is the group's sixth project and is curated by ReOrsa co-founder Jenny Parkes. She asked artsists to "explore a wide variety of boundaries and the breaking of them, from those of the individual's perception and thoughts, to the boundaries of society and everyday life, in both a literal and metaphorical sense".

ReOrsa director and co-founder Janet Curley Cannon said: "Jenny, myself and Tonia Maddison, the third ReOrsa founder, volunteer our time to try and increase the awareness, understanding and appreciation of regional contemporary visual art by taking art outside of normal art venues.

"We want to introduce the local public to the variety of artwork being done in the region, help contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the area and offer assistance to regional artists who often struggle to find venues to show their work." The group has also recruited an intern for the project, Neetu Paul, a former art and design student at Bracknell and Wokingham College and recent Fine Art graduate from the University of Portsmouth. She said: "It is hard because the art industry is a very competitive market, especially for those who are lacking the required experience or qualifications to find work. With this opportunity I will get to learn the skills and knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes of exhibiting an art show." Seventeen artists from places including Bracknell, Crowthorne, Ascot, Camberley, Newbury and High Wycombe will exhibit paintings, drawings, sculptural pieces in the exhibition space at Gallery@49 at the junction of Broadway and Crossway.

There will also be installations in the shop windows on Crossway next to the gallery, work on the vacant shop fronts along Broadway, and an an art treasure hunt around the town.

'Boundaries and Beyond' opened on Thursday and runs until March 31 with artwork visible through the windows of Gallery@49 and other locations from Charles Square through to the Market end of Broadway.

Gallery@49 will be open to the public from noon-3pm on Fridays, March 23 and 30 and noon-4pm on Saturdays, March 24 and 31.

The artists involved include the three ReOrsa founders and Angelika Steiger, Carol Coates, Tom Cartmill, Ingrid Jensen, Charlotte McClelland, Rodney Dee, Sarah Britten-Jones, Julia Rogers, Cally Trench, Michael Garaway, Gemma Cumming, Marie Sudwell, Hildegunn Gravdal and Jessica Bleasby.
