Bracknell News: Moira GawMoira Gaw

"As a Winkfield resident for 18 years I am determined to achieve the best possible outcomes for you and your family. I have been privileged to serve you as both a Parish and Borough Councillor and my four-year track record demonstrates and proves a commitment and energy to persevere with each and every issue raised by you to resolution.

"Winkfield and Cranbourne faces challenges in the future; the preservation of green spaces and wildlife habitats balanced against the demand for additional housing. This will remain a priority issue to address.

"Campaigning for safer roads, controlled speed, sensible and sustainable planning, combined with improved local services and infrastructure is ongoing and will remain a focus activity. Communication has been key in driving the successful relationships with local resident associations and has been a powerful and empowering tool in delivering on the things that are important to you.

"Your support on May 2nd will ensure Winkfield and Cranbourne has an accessible and committed Councillor in place, ready to face the new challenges together."

Christopher Jenkins (Liberal Democrat)

Bracknell News: Chris JenkinsChris Jenkins

"My name is Chris Jenkins and I have lived in Binfield for 20 years along with my wife and two grown up children. I'm a Software Engineer by profession and as a result I have a keen interest in all things relating to science, technology and engineering. I am also very interested in wildlife, the environment and conservation. I spend my spare time maintaining my 'home technology', reading and listening to music. I also enjoy travelling.

"I believe that democracy, at any level, works best when there are many different points of view represented and I also feel strongly that elected officials require oversight and scrutiny. If elected I will work to ensure that Council decisions are properly scrutinised and our Council Tax is spent for the benefit of all the residents of the borough with a particular focus on local facilities, community services, housing and environmental improvements."

Bob Miller (Labour)

"I have lived in Bracknell for the past 22 years. I am a Chartered Electronic Engineer. I worked for Racal for 29 years in manufacturing and  development of high precision test equipment for radio, mobile phones, networks and military systems. I am now self-employed, servicing high power satellite communication systems equipment.

"As a councillor, I would improve the communication between the Council Officials, the Council and residents, giving greater transparency. I believe it is important for the Council to take the message to the Government that the cuts being imposed are causing hardship for many and adversely affecting the future of the next generation."

Alan Round (Labour)

"I am pleased to be a Labour candidate seeking election in the Winkfield and Cranbourne ward.

"Having moved to Bracknell Forest in 1987, I worked for 23 years for a leading international company at an office in Bracknell Town Centre. Before and after my retirement, in 2010, I have been active in local issues throughout the Borough, including supporting my wife when she was a Bracknell Forest Borough Councillor.

"We have two teenage children who went to local state schools giving us an understanding of education and health services in the Borough for both younger and older people.

"In my local church I have been part of the team that helps people with money management as well as being a trustee of an ecclesiastical charity for many years.

"I enjoy walking around the borough these days as opposed to running as I did in my younger years. I completed the Bracknell Half Marathon eight times up to 2002.

"I believe in the provision of good community facilities and services for young and old people as well as anyone requiring support. We should strive to provide help over and above statutory requirements."

Tony Virgo (Conservative)

Bracknell News: Tony VirgoTony Virgo

"I have lived in Winkfield Row for 30 years and have been a Bracknell Forest Councillor for 12 years.

"Over the years I have chaired various committees, including the important portfolio of health. I was honoured to be elected as Mayor in 2017 to represent the whole Borough. I have always taken a tough line on development.

"My business career has spanned over 30 years working in television and films, producing drama for various networks and companies.

"I believe there are many challenges to overcome in the years ahead for Winkfield and Cranbourne. The pressure of development, speeding and unsafe roads as well as improvements to existing infrastructure.

"Should I be elected, I will give energy and vigour to keeping Winkfield and Cranbourne a unique and special place to live."
