RUMBLES Dorothy Mabel (née Bradbury) of Great Hollands Mum left us peacefully, aged 95, on 6th August 2020. Dorothy, was the widow of the late Reginald Rumbles, Mother of Pamela and Brian, Grandmother to ZoHelena and Harry and Great Grandmother to Océane, Sophia, Rosa, and Esther. Mum was always busy! She was an active past member of BARA (Bracknell Active Retired Association) and Bracknell Forest U3a, regularly hosting the Rummikub group - her favourite activity as she became less able. Mum also dedicated much of her time to voluntary work - including hospital driving and home-from-hospital support. Although taking up painting late in life, she became prolific and proved to be talented and won many local awards. She also won awards for her roses, carefully cultivated by her in her beloved garden which, through a network of wonderful carers, she was able to enjoy up to the end, living at the home which she maintained so meticulously. Perhaps of all her achievements, the one of which she was most proud was a community award for founding "Badhogs" the Bracknell Area Deaf and Hard of Hearing Support Group. Mum became deaf in middle age and as it worsened, she sought the company of others who were in a similar position but found few opportunities were available. So with typical energy and determination Mum set about creating such a group and with the great support of early members, BADHOGS thrived and continues to do so today. Though busy, her priority was always her family and never failed to find time to spend with us, always offering love and support. She will be greatly missed, of course, by her family, but also by her neighbours and the many friends she made in Great Hollands and Bracknell. The Funeral Service will take place at Easthampstead Park Crematorium Wellington Chapel on Friday 28th August 2020 at 11:00 am. Due to current restrictions only 20 attendees allowed. Donations, if desired, for Action on Hearing Loss can be made via www.abwalker.co.uk or flowers can be sent to A. B. Walker, 157 Binfield Road, Bracknell, RG42 2BB. 01344 303707.
