Death Notice

Brian Leroy Copeman

Published on 02/10/2024

COPEMAN, Brian Leroy Passed away at Royal Berkshire Hospital on 16th September, 2024, after a very short illness. He was 89 years old, and was preceded by his wife, Carmel, in 2003. Brian was a much loved son, a doting husband, a caring father, and a playful grandfather. Brian started his professional career as an air radar man in the RAF, which he left after completing his 2 years of service. Throughout the rest of his career, he was an inventive engineer for several companies, including the Edison Company and Bake-o-Mat and a conscientious contractor and builder of interior office spaces for his own company, which he ran with his business partner for over 20 years. He relished facing a good technical problem to solve, and would quickly come up with "a cunning plan." Brian was a long-time active member in his local Masonic lodge, reaching some of the highest levels there, including Secretary and Master. An ardent golfer, he played well into his later years, putting in a round as often as he could. He also would happily spend hours playing cribbage, sharing stories, and a pint or two. He enjoyed his travels throughout Europe, as well as his extended stays in the United States. With his outgoing personality and jovial banter Brian was quick to make friends wherever he went. He will be missed greatly by his daughter, Susan, son Ian, and grandchildren Anna, Martha, Alexander, Genevieve and Aidan. Rest in Peace. Funeral service will be held at St James Church, Barkham, on Wednesday 9th October at 2pm.
