A LONG-serving volunteer has been praised for her work running popular events for older people.
Cis Allwright, 75, runs a regular coffee morning and tea club in Binfield and also, for around 25 years until she stood down six weeks ago, was heavily involved with the Alzheimer’s Society.
Mrs Allwright, from Binfield, said: “It’s an honour but you should always remember that you can’t do things on your own unless got some back-up from volunteers. Everybody needs some form of support along the way.” Doreen Pryor, who nominated Mrs Allwright, said: “Without Cis, the people of Bracknell and Binfield would be a lot less fortunate and she really deserves to win this award, for local people to show their appreciation.” The coffee mornings are held from 10.30am-12.30pm on the second Thursday of the month at the Binfield Club at the junction of Forest Road and Terrace Road.
The tea club meets at the same venue from 2.30-4.30pm on the first Thursday of the month. Contact Mrs Allwright on 01344 429000.
