INSPIRATIONAL individuals and groups were honoured at the Pride of Bracknell Awards.
Shortlisted nominees joined dignitaries and community representatives at Bracknell and Wokingham College for the ceremony tonight (Friday), hosted by BBC Radio Berkshire presenters Debbie McGee and Andrew Peach.
The awards honoured their contributions to voluntary work, sport, business, the environment, education and more.
Among the winners was Sherrie Bennett, who was nominated for the My Hero category by her husband Paul - and a dozen other people - for her charity fundraising in memory of the couple's son, Declan.
Others winners included Bracknell Foodbank, which provides a rapidly escalating number of free food parcels in the area. Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service won the Special Award for its sterling effort tackling the Swinley Forest fires last year.
The Pride of Bracknell awards, in their seventh year, are organised by Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP) - the main sponsor - plus the News and Bracknell and Wokingham College, with support from local sponsors.
