A SCOUT leader who was caught with extreme pornographic images attempted to have sex with a child.
Williams Nodes was sentenced at Reading crown court on Friday, April 21 to two and a half years in prison.
The 33-year-old, of Underwood Road, carried out the offences between 2010 and 2014, before he was arrested on April 17 this year.
Investigating officer, detective constable Alice Ashman, said: "Nodes was in a position of trust at the time of committing these offences, volunteering as a scout leader.
“I am pleased that the sentence given reflects the seriousness of the crimes he has committed.
“During this investigation we have had the full co-operation of the Scout Association and have been working closely with them and partner agencies in order to ensure that Nodes has been brought to justice.”
Nodes admitted to four charges of making indecent/pseudo photograph of a child, two charges of possession of an extreme pornographic image and three charges of attempting to incite a child into sexual activity.
He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life, and was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order to prevent him from working with children.
