A FACEBOOK post from a Conservative councillor has been dubbed 'racist' by an Afghanistan war veteran.
On April 16 Peter Heydon, councillor for Old Bracknell ward since 2011, posted a photo of four folded bar umbrellas, with a caption reading: "Group of IS women, hanging out outside a bar in downtown Antwerp.
It comes before a post to the 'Bin the Labour Party page' made last Monday, which has a photo of a miner next to one of Labour campaigner Eddie Izzard in women's clothing. Above it Cllr Heydon wrote: "Oh dear...."
Multiple people have contacted The News regarding the posts, including Afghanistan war veteran and property maintenance company owner David McMullen.
"There was a Facebook discussion and Cllr Heydon was being quite rude to people," said the 32 year-old, of Meadow Way.
"At first there was a photo of Eddie Izzard. Then scrolling down his Facebook there was what I would considered a racist post.
"He should have the common sense to lock down his Facebook. It is not really acceptable for things like that to be going on."
Mr McMullen, who also acts as a moderator for the We Love Bracknell Facebook group and is training to become a barrister, said the posts were unbefitting of a councillor.
"It's really disgraceful that our town councillors think it's acceptable to laugh and mock people from under represented groups," he continued.
"I did a tour of Afghanistan and I do not hold those views."
Cllr Heydon was contacted but declined to comment.
