A CHURCH is running a series of talks to tackle homeless issues in Bracknell.
St Joseph and St Margaret Clitherow Church in the town centre has been run a night shelter for the homeless over the coldest months of the year.
The Night Shelter provides a safe, warn, non-judgemental space for over 50 people by giving them a hot meal each night of the week, share in some activities and conversations with volunteers, a bed for the night, a hot breakfast the next morning and a packed lunch.
The local charity Pilgrim Hearts coordinates seven churches in the town, each of which take a different night of the week to convert their church hall into a night shelter.
The series of talks came out of feedback from last years night shelter volunteers who wanted to be better informed of Bracknell services in order to signpost people for support. They also wanted to be better informed of the issues that people place, giving them more confidence to have conversations with the homeless guests.
The talks began with Clare Dorning, Head of Housing at Bracknell Forest Council and Gillian Hunt, Head of Addiction Services talk about the various pathways to support.
