THE MAYOR of Wokingham has officially opened the new Sutton Court housing development in Earley.
The Mayor, Councillor John Kaiser marked the opening by planting a tree outside the site, as well as giving a speech on Friday, January 11.
Cllr John Kaiser said: “I was delighted to open this new development, which brings 20 new affordable homes to the Wokingham Borough.
“This is more than just bricks and mortar; this site will provide homes and futures to those 20 families.”
The new development was completed in December last year by the Southern Housing Group. It contains a mix of semi-detached two, three and four bed properties.
Oliver Boundy, group development director at Southern Housing Group, said: “I am proud that we have been able to provide these quality detached and semi-detached homes that are well suited to the needs of the local community.
“As a housing association, we exist to provide truly affordable homes for people in housing need and Sutton Court is part of our commitment to improving the lives of our residents and their communities.”
The homes replace a previous development, which was demolished in December 2014.
Cllr John Kaiser added: “Ensuring there are enough affordable homes in the Borough for those who need them most is key, and we are continuing to work hard to achieve this.”
