A NEW library in Harmans Water will be opening its doors to the public for the first time in April.
The library will open in Bracknell on Monday, April 8 and will be located on the ground floor of the Harmans Water community centre.
It will provide an improved service for users and have extended opening hours using Open+ technology.
The technology will allow users to gain access to the library outside the normal staffed hours.
Councillor Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, delivery and public protection, said: “The new library will provide much welcomed enhancements to the current library service. The extended opening hours will allow a more efficient and convenient way for users to access the services they need at a time that suits them.
“The library will see new self-service kiosks added and a much brighter and modern environment inside to give a better overall experience to visitors. All current library staff will relocate to the new site and are looking forward to welcoming residents to the new library.”
A larger more modern, welcoming environment for residents to enjoy will be provided and the entrance foyer will house two self-service kiosks, while the inside will provide a children’s library, more comfortable seating, a study area, IT facilities and an accessible toilet.
Cllr McCracken added: “Anyone wishing to take advantage of the extended opening hours, can pre-register for Open+ now by speaking to a member of library staff. Open+ is already successfully running in our Binfield library and will be rolled out to every library in the borough during the course of the year.”
The new library will open following the closure of the old Harmans Water Library.
