A serving police officer based in West Berkshire has been charged in connection with an assault of a girl under the age of 14.
James Chapman, aged 43, a sergeant based in West Berkshire Local Policing Area, was arrested on September 17 last year.
He was charged via postal requisition yesterday, Wednesday, April 17 with indecent assault on a girl under 14 years old.
The charge is in connection with an incident at a property in Oxford in 1991.
Following his arrest he was discharged from duty and is due to appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on May 21.
