THE GLITZ and glamour of the 1920s was the theme but the winners of the second Thames Valley Hospitality Awards were bang up-to-date.
Held on Sunday, April 28 at the De Vere Wokefield Estate in Mortimer, the awards saw Hilton Reading scoop Hotel of the Year and Orwells in Shiplake take the coveted Restaurant of the Year.
The awards were hosted by TV chef Daniel Galmiche and Royals legend Ady Williams and guests included Sir John Madejski.

Independent Hotel of the Year went to the Miller of Mansfield in Goring, and Pub of the Year went for the second year running to The Newbury.
But the big winner on the night was The Great House Sonning who scooped six awards including winner of Warm Welcome and their car park attendant Garry Stevens being rewarded with Front-of-House Star.
The Special Recognition Award went to owner of seven McDonalds franchises in the area Richard Forte whose policy of helping older people back into work and sponsoring a teenager through university helped him come to the judges’ attention.
Achiever of the Year – a new award for someone who has overcome a physical or mental problem to shine – was won by David Berry who uses his personal struggle with mental health problems to advise the industry. Mr Berry of Ibis Hotels got a standing ovation. And tears were also shed when young Courtney Harris of the Miller of Mansfield won Apprentice of the Year.
Newbury Racecourse got silver in Wedding Venue of the Year which was won by Lillibrooke Manor in Maidenhead.
Entertainment was provided by Sam Rogers playing Sybil Fawlty and period singer Kitty Mazinsky performed two songs.
The awards are organised by Hilary Scott and Marc Allridge of Cherubs Floral Design and sponsors include ShowState, H&D Food Solutions, Berkshire Wedding Fairs and Matthew Clark.
