A BERKSHIRE search and rescue charity has received a donation towards its work as part of a developer’s new community fund.
David Wilson Homes Southern has given Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue (BLSAR) £1,000 to help them provide highly trained searches.
The sponsorship comes following the launch of the developer’s new community fund scheme, where the housebuilder will give a donation a month to charities and organisations in the area.
Andrew Viney the fundraising officer for Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue collected the donation at the homebuilder’s nearby Croft Gardens development site.
He said: “We are extremely grateful for this generous donation which will make such a difference to the team and enable us to purchase valuable life-saving equipment."
BLSAR provides foot searchers and search controllers as well as all the equipment needed to manage a large-scale search. They work closely with Thames Valley Police to assist the search for missing vulnerable people, including children and those suffering from dementia or despondent people.
Paul Crispin, managing director at David Wilson Homes Southern, said: “We’re delighted to have been able to support Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue through the Community Fund scheme.
“The work carried out by the representatives of this charity benefits a large number of local residents and we’re pleased to be able to offer our help towards a great cause.
“As the country’s largest housebuilder we are committed to creating a positive legacy. We want to lead the industry not just in the quality of the homes and developments we build, but also in our work with charities and good causes throughout the UK.”
