The Wokingham Lions club have donated the proceeds from their Easter raffle to the foodbank

The raffle was held across local pubs and business across the borough and the winners all won a 1 kilo Easter Egg.

Bob Westerman, fundraising coordinator at Wokingham Lions Club, said: “We would like to thank the participating pubs for their fantastic support of the Easter Egg Raffle this year.

"As a result, our club has donated £500 to the Wokingham Foodbank, which is run by volunteers who help individuals and families in need in our community.”

Carole Grey, manager at Wokingham Foodbank believes the money will help go towards buying their own vehicle.

She added: “At the Foodbank we always have a Wish List to hand. Last week our mobile phone finally decided it had reached the end of the line, so a new one had to be purchased.

"Our long- term goal is to purchase our own vehicle. This would allow us to transport stock between Broad Street Walk and our offsite storage, without using private vehicles.”

The pubs participating include The Broad Street Tavern, Bull at Barkham, The Castle, The Crispin, The Crooked Billet, Dog and Duck, The Dukes Head, Emmbrook Inn, The Green Man, Rifle Volunteer, The Ship Inn, The Three Frogs, Two Poplars and The White Horse.
