A SCHOOL in Bracknell has been judged as good in their latest report as the headteacher has guided staff to create ‘honest self-evaluation’ and ‘improvement’ since the last report.

The headteacher at Garth Hill College has been praised for acting quickly to make ‘much-needed changes' since the school was rated as requires improvement in 2017.

The report also recognised that leaders have worked with determination to hold staff to account more effectively to improve standards.

Keith Grainger, headteacher at Garth Hill College, said: “We are delighted with the report from Ofsted. It reflects the collective hard work, dedication and commitment by staff, governors, pupils and parents over the last two years. It is important that everyone keeps working together to improve the College so that we make Garth Hill one of the best schools in the region.”

The latest Ofsted inspection identified several key strengths within the school including students making ‘strong’ progress because of the teaching improvements, the good behaviour of pupils in lessons and the variety and balance of the curriculum.

The schools sixth form was also given recognition as students are making good progress as they receive ‘strong teaching’ and are ‘looked after well.’

Councillor Dr Gareth Barnard, Executive Member for Children, Young People and Learning believes the report reflects the hard work of the staff.

This is testament to the hard work and dedication to address the areas identified in the previous Ofsted inspection resulting in improved outcomes for the school.
