Bracknell MP Phillip Lee crosses floor in front of Boris Johnson

The member of parliament defected from the Conservatives to the Liberal Democrats as MPs returned from summer recess.

Tonight representatives will vote on a key Brexit bill which could make sure the UK does not leave the EU without a deal. 

Dr Lee is one of more than a dozen cross-party MPs sponsoring the motion, which could see the government defeated now it no longer has a working parliamentary majority.
