A TERRIFIED man feels he "could be attacked" after walking through a pitch black underpass, which has recently opened to the public.
Maciej Partyka from Wildridings stepped foot into the "poorly lit" underpass in Downshire Way, Bracknell at around 8pm last night in order to get home and explained to the News he felt very unsafe.
He said: "I felt very unsafe and I recommended my son to avoid the underpass after dark. Before the closure, the pass was lit and it used to be a problem spot with youths using drugs and drinking.

"Now, it is both not secure and not safe, the passage is narrow and it is still got scaffolding so in complete darkness someone may get hurt."
The A322 Downshire Way highways improvements is currently taking place between Twin Bridges Roundabout and the junction with Old Bracknell Lane.
This has meant the underpass had to be closed to widen the carriageway on the A322.
Despite this, the closure has caused disruptions, forcing residents to take alternative routes making it longer to get home or get to the other side of the subway.

Maciej added: "We need lights to be installed and CCTV. I cannot believe the council allowed the underpass to be opened without any lighting."
"This is a busy route from the Station to South Bracknell and in complete darkness, one cannot see a potential attacker. This is already the reality in Bill Hill as that is a dangerous place."
Andrew Hunter, director for place, planning and regeneration said: “We were sorry to hear of Mr Partyka’s experience. "I can confirm lighting has now been installed in the underpass, and we apologise this wasn’t completed before the underpass was opened to the public.
"If residents to find issues with lights in the borough, we’d urge them to report it to us via our website”
