A SCHOOL which has been set in the heart of Sandhurst for 150 years has welcomed its newest headteacher.
Stuart Bevan feels "privileged" to be taking over the role as headteacher at St Michael's CE Primary School.
The dedicated teacher who has been in education for 12 years aims to be at the school for the 'long term'.
He said: "I wanted to be the head of a school primary and St Michael's has a good reputation in terms of its community involvement and creative extra-curricular activities.

"The school is also recognised by Berkshire Get Active and recently at the Pride of Bracknell awards."
The new headteacher supports the school's 'Wow trips' scheme, which takes students from each year group on trips to boost community engagement and build relationships between parents and the school.
Recently, pupils got involved with a STEM project where Three Mobile visited and ran Ipad workshops.
One of the main plans the headteacher has is to update the IT equipment to support staff with their workload and to continue the wow trips scheme.

Stuart said: "Parents and pupils really enjoy the trip, despite it being a logistical challenge.
"I also believe pupils can achieve grades through our curriculum and we aim to make children feel like it is okay to make mistakes so there is a low threat and it makes school a fun place for them."
Mr Bevan took over from the previous headteacher because she decided to retire to Scotland with her partner.
He added: "I feel very privileged to take over her very experienced school, which inspires a love for learning."
In total, Stuart has been in education for 12 years, previously working as a headteacher for seven years at the Robert Piggot Junior School in Wokingham and at Butlers Court School and St Mary's in Beaconsfield and St Mary's School in Warfield.
The headteacher invites parents to St Michael's open morning on October 2 at 9.15am.
