A SURGE in burglaries has taken place where homes have been ransacked across Bracknell and Wokingham.
Police have issued a warning to residents to remain vigilant after a number of burglaries were reported in the first few weeks of November.

Burglars have been targeting unoccupied homes and stealing jewellery, cash and other items.
Recently, the News reported that police attended at least eight burglaries across Harmans Water, Owlsmoor, Forest Park, College Town in Bracknell.
A police spokesman said: "If you are home in the late afternoons and early evenings, please keep an eye out for your neighbours and don’t hesitate to report any suspicious activity on the Thames Valley Police website or via the Police non-emergency number 101.
"If you suspect a burglary is in progress, please dial 999."

With the clocks going back and darker evenings, police are sending out strong warnings to Bracknell residents to be vigilant and take extra measures to secure their homes
Residents can take measures to avoid burglaries, such as buying alarms, CCTV and video doorbell systems, external lighting and making sure doors and windows are locked.
