A MAN has died after the road-sweeper he was driving plunged into the River Thames.
Thames Valley Police said a man in his fifties, from Wokingham, had to be rescued from the vehicle when it lost control and crashed into the water.
It happened about 9.15am yesterday when the road-sweeper was being used to clean the pavements on the Promenade, at Barry Avenue, Windsor.

Emergency services rushed to the scene where the driver, the only person inside the vehicle was rescued from the river.
He was taken to hospital where he later died, and police confirmed his next of kin have been informed.
Sergeant Mark Gawthrop of the Joint Operations Road Policing Unit based at Taplow, said: “Sadly following this incident a man has tragically died.
“Our thoughts remain with his family.
“At this time we are making enquiries on behalf of the coroner, but we are still appealing for witnesses to come forward."

The force added that thoughts are with family and friends of the man at this difficult time.
The death is now being treated as unexplained but non-suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
