BOSSES at Bracknell Forest Council (BFC) are set to fork out more than £1.5 million on maintenance work next year.
The authority is the landlord for a number of properties across the borough and repair work is needed at several sites.

Resurfacing three floors of High Street car park is set to cost £300,000, according to BFC’s budget plans.
Despite Everyone Active taking over the running of Bracknell Leisure Centre almost two years ago, BFC is still the landlord for the site and is set to re-roof the sports hall.
This could also cost £300,000 of capital money – funds which come from selling properties, grants or borrowing and is used for maintaining council assets.
Other big repair projects include:
- £100,000 on Coral Reef flow meters and pipework
- £200,000 on alarm upgrades and other work at 14 Market Street
- £60,000 on replacing a lift at The Look Out

- £80,000 on refurbishment works at Westmorland Park pavilion
The total price of the planned maintenance works comes to £1,545,000.
According to BFC’s budget documents, the authority is in charge of maintaining properties worth more than £60 million altogether.
The budget report read: “The purpose of the work is to maintain the councils’ buildings to a sufficient standard to provide a safe and appropriate environment from which its’ various services can operate.

“The works included in the programme are identified through a series of condition surveys, which are undertaken on our behalf by external engineers and surveyors.”
Residents can have their say on these plans, and BFC’s other 2020/2021 budget proposals, before the council’s consultation closes on Friday, January 31 2020.
Councillors will vote on the authority’s final budget plans at a meeting in late February.
