Due to a gas leak London Rd is closed eastbound between Running Horse Rbt & Long Hill Rd. Diversion via London Rd, A3095 Church Rd, A322 Bagshot Rd & B3430 New Forest Ride.
We will update on progress.
The gas supplier working in the area has issued a statement to say they have temporarily fixed the gas leak.
A Cadent gas spokesman said: "We have carried out a temporary repair on a leak on a gas main that runs underneath the road surface. Work will continue to complete a permanent repair as soon as possible and reinstate the road surface.
"No evacuations have been needed and local gas supplies have not been interrupted. The road closure has been required for both the safety of road users and for the safety or our team working there. So, while far from ideal, we hope people understand this is essential work to keep the gas mains in safe working order. It’s not a quick thing to fix –and we really appreciate everyone’s patience."
