AN UPSET resident has spoken out after collecting tonnes of people's rubbish out of his own time.

Sean Laurie from Sandhurst has picked up more than 100 bags of rubbish from roads around the area and want's people to simply start putting their litter in a bin.

He said: "Since the beginning of October myself and my family have collected 123 bags.

"I started to get depressed looking at the amount of rubbish between Sandhurst and Bracknell on the A3095.

"It’s a particularly beautiful drive through the forest between two towns and it was blighted by rubbish."

Since going out of his way to pick up litter, Mr Laurie has mainly discovered bottles of Vodka and whisky bottles, Tesco bags, sandwich cartons and discarded dog poo bags in the woods.

He made light-heart of the situation by saying he finds a lot of energy drink bottles, because 'people are too tired to hold onto it once they have drunk it'.

Mr Laurie has also come across McDonald's and KFC takeaway bags as well as broken electric fans, car vacuums, shopping trolleys and foldaway chairs.

He added: "I feel better when it’s tidy. The worst feeling is the next few days when the rubbish makes its appearance again. It's always stuff thrown from cars."

Currently, if you see someone illegally disposing of their waste, you can make a report on Bracknell Forest Council's homepage.

Residents should also note that it is illegal to litter and you can get a maximum fine of £2,500 for persistent littering.

However, different local authorities also have the powers to impose on-the-spot fines to those caught littering.

The Public Protection Partnership's environmental health department has been contacted for a comment.
