EXCITING plans to add a Greggs bakery in Sandhurst are one step closer to reality.
Earlier this month, the News reported rumours the popular eatery would be coming to the town after job advertisements were spotted on Greggs’ website.

A planning application has now been submitted to Bracknell Forest planning chiefs asking for permission to open the store at 39 Yorktown Road.
This is where the former Natwest bank used to be based.

A planning statement submitted by Greggs bosses read: “The inclusion of Greggs as a leading national multiple to the Yorktown Road town centre is considered to be of significant benefit, creating local jobs, bringing a vacant unit back into beneficial use and enhancing the retail viability and health of the centre.”
The statement proposes the store could be open from 5am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am to 4pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

Bracknell Forest Council has not yet made a decision on the proposals.
