The homeowner returned to find their front door was locked from the inside and they could not get in.
Police said thieves climbed over a rear garden gate and forced the conservatory window open.
It is believed one of the burglars reached inside and broke the padlock on the patio door.
The internal doors were also forced open and the upstairs of the house was ransacked with jewellery stolen.
