Since Sainsbury's closed on Wednesday, February 26, rumours of a gym have been circulating on social media but clearly this isn't want the "locals want."

The landlords said to the Bracknell News they recognise the local need for a supermarket to replace Sainsbury's but 'cannot confirm' a new supermarket at this stage.

Harry Pickering, head of UK retail for Schroders, said: "We learned that Sainsbury’s had taken a decision to close its store at Bracknell, as part of its national store strategy, towards the end of last year.

"Conversations with potential replacements are ongoing and, in what is a challenging market for the retail industry nationally, we have found that discussions with all kinds of retail brands are slower than we would like.

"We cannot confirm new supermarket operators at this stage but are aware of the demand from loyal, local shoppers, for this use. In the meantime, we remain committed to investing in the redevelopment of Bracknell town centre, with plans already underway to evolve and improve Princess Square."
