The following cases were heard at Reading and Slough Magistrates’ Court:

February 3:

ABIGAIL FLOREY, 49, of Merryhill Road, Bracknell, admitted failing to comply with a community order on April 26, 2019, by failing to attend planned office appointments on September 6, 2019, October 28, 2019, and October 31, 2019, due to illness. But failed to provide evidence to cover these absences. Previous community order continued with rehabilitation activity. Also ordered to pay £125.

February 4:

JOHN TURNER, 58, of Blackmoor Wood, Ascot, Bracknell, admitted criminal damage to food bowls and a tablet screen belonging to someone else, in Ascot, Bracknell, on February 3. Discharged conditionally for 6 months. Also ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

LESLIE WILLIS, 60, of Meadow Way, Bracknell, admitted possession of class A drug cocaine on February 12, 2019. Also admitted possession of a weapon designed or adapted to discharge projectiles with more than one joule of energy. Fined £266 total and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £85 court costs.

ELEISHA CARSON, 23, of Crofton Close, Bracknell, admitted drink-driving in London Road, Ascot, on August 30, 2019. Found to have 69mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mcg. Fined £300 and ordered to pay £32 vicitm surcharge. Must also pay £500 court costs. Disqualified from driving for 18 months.

February 5:

ALEXANDER CLARK, 21, of Finchampstead Road, Finchampstead in Wokingham, admitted driving through a red light in Bagshot Road, Bracknell, on March 23, 2019. Found to have driven through the red light 1.9 seconds after it went red. Fined £40 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge. Three point added to driving licence.

February 7:

DERRY BENNETT, 37, of no fixed abode, admitted harassment by leaving aggressive or threatening voicemails in Aborfield between January 26 to February 3, breaching a restraining order put in place on October 3, 2016. Fined £100 and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge.

CONNOR JONES, 20, of Hampshire Close, Wokingham, admitted theft by finding after stealing lead in Wokingham on April 16, 2018, to an unknown value. Also admitted theft by finding after stealing lead worth £966.37 in Wokingham on April 16, 2018. Admitted being transported in a stolen vehicle while knowing it was stolen in Wokingham on April 18. Given a community order to comply with 195 hours of unpaid work. Also ordered to pay £200 compensation and £85 victim surcharge. Must also pay £130 court costs.

NOMTHANDI MKHIZE, 21, of Reading Road, Wokingham, convicted of travelling on a Great Western Railway service without having paid the £25.10 train fare at Reading Station on June 27, 2019. Fined £120 and ordered to pay £25.10 compensation. Also ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge and £160 court costs.

JOHN FRANKHAM, 46, of Wellingtonia Avenue, Crowthorne, convicted of being the named owner of a car that failed to meet insurance requirements in Crowthorne on June 7, 2019. Fined £220 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge. Also ordered to pay £200 court costs.

WOKINGHAM CARS LTD, of Molly Millars Lane, Wokingham, convicted keeping an unlicensed vehicle on June 15, 2019. Fined £440 and ordered to pay vehicle excise back duty of £75. Also ordered to pay £200 court costs.

February 11:

CINDY BROWN, 27, of Cunworth Court, Bracknell, admitted harassment by leaving four voicemails in Wokingham between January 31 to February 7, breaching a restraining order put in place on January 31 2020. Sentenced to eight weeks in prison, due to persistent breach, threats made and was a very recent breach of the order. Also ordered to pay £122 victim surcharge.

ROSE BELLERBY, 29, of Fernbank Place, Ascot, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Fernbank Place, Ascot, on January 4, 2020. Also admitted assault by beating of a special constable in Ascot on January 4, 2020. Given a conditional discharge for 18 months and ordered to pay £100 compensation. Also ordered to pay £21 victim surcharge, and £85 court costs.

February 12:

JOSIE KEOHANE, 28, of Bagshot Road, Bracknell, convicted of harassment by sending numerous messages over Facebook directly and indirectly through co-workers and family members, as well as approaching the victim at work in Southampton between February 8, 2018, and October 24, 2019. Also admitted assault by beating in Southampton on December 12, 2019, and admitted criminal damage to a chair in Southampton on December 12, 2019. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity, and made subject to a restraining order. Also ordered to pay £225 compensation and £90 victim surcharge.

A fundamental principle of open justice is that it must be seen to be done. It is established in the UK court cases should be heard in public. This principle of open justice is acclaimed on a number of grounds: as a safeguard against judicial error, as a deterrent to perjury, to assist the deterrent function of criminal trials and to permit the revelation of matters of public interest.
