A WOKINGHAM family is hoping to get more support for schoolchildren who are having to stay at home during the coronavirus crisis.
Divya Garg and her husband Gaurav started their online platform LetsLocalise in November 2019 to channel support from businesses directly into schools across Berkshire.

After the announcement that all school are to close due to Covid-19, there will be hundreds of children at home without basic essentials like stationary and Ipads to be able to continue their home schooling.
With that in mind, the family has decided to appeal to local communities and business who may have spare resources to help disadvantaged children at home.
Divya said: "We see the challenge of Coronavirus as an opportunity to build closer communities across the UK by offering support and spreading kindness.
"I reckon our collaboration with businesses would also result in lot of community loyalty for them post coronavirus crisis.
"We need more support for children. We have to level that divide and take some responsibility as a community."
The start-up company is onboarding all 423 schools on the platform which means their headteachers can publish what resources they need help with from the community. Headteachers will be sent an email notification as and when it is done.
LetsLocalise has launched five unique features to support schools during the coronavirus pandemic.
- Pledge a Penny enables the community to donate money to school projects for their vulnerable children
- Pledge a Minute enables the community to volunteer to help school with food deliveries
- Pledge A Resource enables schools in Berkshire to list out the resources they need, such as meals, snacks, laptops, sports equipment, stationery, educational games to support students who are having to home school.
Students will also be able to access expert talks and businesses will be able to offer funding, resources and their expertise through Corporate Connect.
