In total, 1,034 calls have been made by people from the East Berkshire NHS region, which covers Bracknell, Ascot, Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead.

A further 181 enquiries were made online, all in the period from March 18 to April 16.

Bracknell News:

Figures show women aged 19-69 were most likely to report symptoms, which can include dry coughs and a high temperature, as almost half of all reports came from this category.

Those aged up to 18 years old made more reports than those aged 70-years-old and over.

A statement on the NHS webpage presenting the data read: “This data is based on potential COVID-19 symptoms reported by members of the public to NHS Pathways through NHS 111 or 999 and 111 online,  and is not based on the outcomes of tests for coronavirus.

“This is not a count of people.

“In 111 online, any user that starts and launches the COVID-19 assessment services is indicating they may have symptoms of coronavirus.

“They may have accessed the service multiple times with different symptoms.”

Earlier this week the News reported 2.7 per cent of people who had reported symptoms to a new online app and not the NHS, called Covid Symptom Tracker, were symptomatic with coronavirus.

Latest figures show 139 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Bracknell Forest, 163 in Windsor and Maidenhead, and 262 in Slough.
