STAFF at Bracknell’s River Island store are cycling, running and walking to Disneyland Paris — without breaking lockdown rules.
Employees at the fashion store, based in The Lexicon, are raising money for mental health charity MIND by collaboratively travelling the equivalent distance from their shop to the French theme park.

This works out as a whopping 532 kilometres (or 330 miles).
Those taking part in the fundraiser have been cycling, walking and running around their neighbourhoods during their daily exercise allowance without breaking social distancing guidelines.
Erin, a sales advisor at the store, told the News: “River Island as a company wanted their teams to do some fundraising for various mental health charities to help them in this difficult time.
“As a company, they promised to match every penny that their teams across the country raised so we all wanted to get involved!”
Bracknell’s River Island team has been travelling to Disneyland since Friday, May 1, with staff clocking up hundreds of kilometres already.
The employees have already smashed their £500 fundraising target for MIND as £787 has been donated by well-wishers and supporters so far.

On their page, River Island Bracknell’s bosses wrote: “We all know we are staying inside for such an important reason, so many of us are probably dreaming of being somewhere far more exciting than lockdown.
“Therefore, the River Island Bracknell Dream Team will be cycling, walking and running the equivalent distance from our store in Bracknell to Disneyland Paris — aka somewhere we’d definitely rather be!
“Although we won’t be meeting Mickey and Minnie at the finish line, we will be raising funds for the amazing mental health charity Mind.
“During this incredibly hard time, it’s so important to focus on our mental health and to realise that ourselves, and those around us, maybe struggling.”

Erin is one of fourteen employees taking part in the challenge and she and her colleagues will get a well-earned rest after the fundraiser comes to an end on Thursday, May 7.
She added: “I’m really loving it.
“It feels both great to be raising money for an amazing charity, but I am also completing greater distances than I do normally and the support the team is showing each other is so uplifting.”
