AS millions flocked to celebrate the Victory in Europe to Buckingham Palace on May 8, 1945, tomorrow will see a very different day of celebrations.
But with the UK under lockdown, it is not all doom and gloom as the Daily Mail has announced plans for their 'Salute the Heroes' Spitfire flypast.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has granted the national tabloid newspaper a special exemption to the official advice against all general aviation.
The Daily Mail asked its readers to nominate a care home and hospital for the special flypast.

Among those nominated will be Squadron Leader Stanley Booker MBE from Bracknell who was shot down over occupied France on June 3, 1944.
The Daily Mail said: "Two of the crew were killed but Mr Booker bailed out and was picked up by the French resistance near Dreux.
"He got as far as Paris before being betrayed and handed over to the Gestapo. Five days before the liberation of Paris, he was despatched to Buchenwald concentration camp. Eventually, after a forced march to Germany, he was 'liberated' by the Soviets but had to remain in custody a full three weeks after VE Day before being released."
Booker told the Daily Mail: "'I feel humbled. What's so special about me? There are so many other brave veterans who deserve to be acknowledged."
