FAMILIES felt delighted to receive free food from a "delicious" Indian takeaway as they held their street parties on VE Day.
The owner of Peppermills Indian Takeaway on Fernbank Road, Ascot surprised the hungry residents after he walked past them on his social distancing walk.

Sham Ali delivered a free meal to residents living on the road on VE Day to lift people's spirits.
Suzanne Kingston, who lives on the road, said: "It was absolutely lovely of Sham. He just walked past us and the next thing, he comes back with bags of Indian takeaway for us all.

"It would be nice to highlight the kind gesture and support his business during this uncertain time."
This isn't the first time Peppermills has come under the spotlight for positive news.

Sham's 15-year-old son Naseem Ali decided to whip up a big lunch for staff on the paediatric ward where he underwent a liver transplant.
The teenager was born with multiple medical conditions and has undergone 27 operations in his life. He wanted to give his thanks for the NHS staff for supporting him.
Sham delivered the delicious takeaway food, which included a range of tasty Indian treats, to King’s College Hospital on Sunday, April 19 .
