THIS young Bracknell resident was 'overwhelmed' this weekend after a surprise social-distanced party was thrown to celebrate a one-year anniversary since his stem-cell transplant for Leukaemia.
Zachary White, aged 6, 'had no idea' about the celebrations planned, which took place on Sunday, July 5, involving friends and family driving past their home and waving to him, in order to socially distance from the 'shielding' family.
The event in Bullbrook, Bracknell, also included special visits from a children's entertainer, team members from his favourite ice hockey team the Bracknell Bees and their mascot 'Buzz', and even a visit from 'Spider-man'.

Katie White, Zach's mum, said: "We organised a social distance drive-past of friends, family and local people - the whole street was taking part.
"He was massively surprised, he thought we were playing street bingo. He was quite overwhelmed.
"We have been in lockdown for quite some time, shielding, so he hasn't got to see anyone for a long time and he got to see all his friends and family.
"He kept saying it was 'the best day ever'."
The event was organised in order to celebrate the one year anniversary since Zach's stem-cell transplant, following his diagnosis with AML Leukaemia in February last year.
Although Zach at first tried chemotherapy, it wasn't effective enough and he was given the transplant due to his vulnerable situation.

Katie added: "On Valentine's day, February last year, he was diagnosed with AML leukaemia.
"He had chemotherapy, but it didn't work as well as we liked, so he went straight to the stem cell transplant, as he was classed as 'high risk'.
"We would like to thank everyone on our street for coming together and making this possible - everyone has come together and massively supported us.
"We would also like to thank The Giant Pledge charity, which raises money for childhood cancer - the charity has been massively important to us."
