The old Brakenhale School, which some former pupils would have had fond memories of, is now finally being demolished.

Students and teachers officially moved into the new Brakenhale School in January.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, demolition works were delayed but yesterday on Wednesday, July 22, a video emerged showing the roof of the old school being ripped apart.

Jane Coley, Headteacher, said: "The school will be demolished in phases starting with the kitchen extension, the english blocks then through into the old hall and humanities areas. It will then proceed through to the maths, design and technology and finally the three storey science block.

"It is anticipated that demolition will be complete in September time and then significant landscaping will begin to provide two car parks at the front of the school, a new entrance and two all weather sports pitches."

The demolition project is expected to be complete by the end of December 2020.
