An 84-year-old man from Crowthorne has jumped out of a plane to raise money for a charity close to his heart.

Daredevil Trevor Jones achieved his dreams of skydiving in a tandem parachute jump on Sunday, August 23.

Leaping out of the plane on a tandem jump, Trevor became one of the UK's oldest sky divers as he plunged some 13,000 feet to Earth.

The jump was originally scheduled for May but was postponed to August 16th due to the Covid-19 lock-down but then postponed again due to the bad weather.

Trevor's skydive has helped raise £670 for the COATS Crowthorne Old Age to Teen Society, to help improve the well-being of older people who live in or near Crowthorne.

David Wilson, COATS trustee, said "It was touch and go again on the new date due to strong winds, but Trevor was both excited and relieved that the jump could at last take place. "

Trevor moved to the Crowthorne area in late 2019 and soon made his way to the COATS Centre where he quickly made some new friends. Originally from the North East, Trevor served 5 years as an infantryman in the Green Howards before setting up a successful printing business.

He retired to the sunshine of Cyprus 20 years ago and arrived in Crowthorne last year to be near his daughter.

Trevor said. “I was keen to make a contribution to my new community and so decided, at the age of 84, to do a tandem skydive to raise money for COATS. Please support me in my adventure and COATS in their great work with a donation no matter how small."
