THE area of Wokingham which recorded the most Covid-19 cases last week has been revealed.

Between October 13 and October 20, the figures show 143 people tested positive for the virus in the Wokingham borough.

In Wokingham North and Hurst, six people tested positive for the virus.

Wokingham’s latest seven-day infection rate stands at 98.2 cases per 100,000 people.
At a council meeting last week, Meradin Peachey, director of Public Health Berkshire, said if Wokingham’s seven-day rate “continues at the rate of the South East” then it will reach 100 cases per 100,000 people by the end of October.
Councillor Andy Croy (Labour) said: “That’s the level at which a local authority would normally be moved from Tier 1 to Tier 2. We’re going to go to Tier 2.”
More than 1,130 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Wokingham so far and 157 people have died after contracting the virus.
