PRINCESS Square chiefs have said there is ‘no update’ on any plans to replace the town’s former Sainsbury’s.
The popular supermarket closed its doors for the final time in February after serving the community for 36 years.

For the past nine months, the store has laid empty and is now covered by decorative hoarding from Bracknell and Wokingham College.
Many residents had hoped a new supermarket would replace the old one but no details about what could fill Princess Square’s gap have yet emerged.

The News asked bosses at The Lexicon for an update on what is planned for the former Sainsbury’s store, but a spokesperson said they had “no news to report.”
This comes as Princess Square nears the completion of its multi-million-pound refurbishment.

Shoppers will see new escalators, lift lobbies, and an ‘impressive’ ceiling space with feature lighting when refurbishments are finally complete.
The new ‘modern, light and bright space’ will also have new seating and toilets added.
Wimpy is also set to move in at Princess Square.
