“WE all need to stop and think about how we behave” — that’s the message from the leader of the council as tier 4 restrictions come into force across the borough.

The toughest measures are now in play, meaning residents are extremely limited in what they can do around Bracknell Forest.

Despite this, there are still some places people can visit while adhering to social distancing, exercise and household mixing rules.

You can no longer go shopping at non-essential stores, visit indoor entertainment venues such as the cinema or bowling alleys, or go to the hairdressers.

This means Bracknell Leisure Centre and Coral Reef are now closed.

However, Downshire Golf Course is still open for use of the green only and in line with household mixing and outdoor exercise rules.

The borough’s parks and open spaces are still open for exercise, too, but residents should only exercise with their own household or support bubble.

The Look Out’s play area remains bookable and the site’s coffee shop is still open for takeaway.

Swinley Bike Club and Go Ape are closed, however.

Lapland UK, which was set to stay open in tier 3 according to national reports, will close.

The Household Waste and Recycling Centre at Longshot Lane remains open for bookings only.

Despite these limited exceptions, Bracknell Forest Council leader Paul Bettison is warning residents to stick ‘think about how they behave’ in the coming weeks.

He said: “I know these new restrictions may be unwelcome news for our residents, many of whom have been looking forward to celebrating Christmas with their families.

“However, the virus is spreading at an alarming rate, so we need to stick to these tougher restrictions in order to protect ourselves, protect our loved ones and protect our borough.

“While not all of us will suffer from the serious harm that COVID-19 can cause, we all need to stop and think about how we behave and what part we play in stopping the spread of this dreadful infection to those for whom it can have devastating consequences.

“Please do stick to the rules which are a legal requirement. If you do need to go out please make sure you carefully follow the hands, face, space rules.

“Please also make sure you do not join or form a Christmas bubble, however disappointing that may be, as we need to keep everyone as safe as possible.”
