40 PER CENT of waste collection staff contractors used by the Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) have tested positive for coronavirus, it was announced this morning.

The announcement was made by the council earlier today on twitter, following a temporary suspension in garden waste collections made last week.
Although the suspension was coronavirus related, as detailed by the WBC at the time, the percentage of staff affected was not revealed.
The tweet from the WBC said:
As of this morning, 40 per cent of our waste collection contractor's crews are off sick due to Covid-19⚠

Because of this garden waste collections have been temporarily suspended⚠

As detailed, this seizure of garden waste collection means that general waste, food waste and recycling should not be affected.
