BRACKNELL Forest’s coronavirus infection rate has increased for the first time in almost two weeks.

The borough’s weekly rate of confirmed Covid-19 cases per 100,000 population is now at 366.4 (data published January 25), up from 361.5 the previous day data was published (January 24).

This is the first increase recorded since January 12, however, when the rate increased from 703.4 to 734.4.

Despite this increase, which is marginal at most, the borough’s rate is now at a similar level to what it was before Christmas.

The data published on December 21 showed Bracknell Forest with a rate of 362.3, before the figures surged in the days following Christmas.

A peak of 849.5 was recorded on January 6, 2021, but as government figures face a five-day lag, this is the true figure for January 1, 2021.

January 6 was the day England went into its third national lockdown. True data for this date, published on January 11, suggests the borough’s rate was at 703.4.

Since then, Bracknell Forest’s rate has fallen almost every single day.

The borough now has the third-highest rate in Berkshire behind Reading and Slough where it previously had the second-highest behind Slough.

The latest seven-day rate per 100,000 people (published January 25) locally is as follows:

Bracknell – 366.4

Wokingham – 294.5

Reading – 603.3

Slough – 865.3

Windsor and Maidenhead – 334.8

West Berkshire – 267.6
