Almost 50,000 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Berkshire since the start of the pandemic.

Public Health England has recorded 275 lab-confirmed cases in areas including Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, West Berkshire, Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead.

These figures, correct as of Monday, February 1 at 4pm, bringing the county's lab-confirmed positive Covid-19 tests total to 49,500, according to Public Health England.

Bracknell Forest - 36 cases, 6,259 total

Wokingham - 36 cases, 7,325 total

Reading - 72 cases, 9,724 total

West Berkshire - 30 cases, 5,450 total

Slough - 66 cases, 13,285 total

Windsor and Maidenhead - 35 cases, 7,457 total

There have now been 3,835,783 people across the UK who have tested positive for Covid-19.

Officials are looking to urgently test 80,000 people in England after 11 were identified over the last five or six days to have tested positive for the variant with no links to travel.

Alan Titchmarsh has said he feels “relieved” after receiving a coronavirus jab, as he heaped praise on researchers and medics involved in the vaccination programme.

He was given the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine at a fire station in Basingstoke, Hampshire, on Monday.

He told the PA news agency the process was quick and easy and he has felt no adverse effects.
