The Wokingham Borough Council’s new plastic bags, replacing the black recycling boxes currently used by residents, are to be issued to homes by the end of the month.
The council announced that the bags would start to be delivered to people's homes in Wokingham from February 22.

Each household will receive two bags at first, which are intended for recycling waste - the use of bags is to ensure recyclable waste does not get wet, and therefore cannot be recycled, which was a problem with the previous open-topped black boxes.
Cllr Parry Batth, executive member for environment, said: “We know our residents are keen to recycle as much as possible and the change to these waterproof bags will help us towards our recycling goals.
"Recycling wet paper is more difficult than it used to be due to changes in the world market for recycled paper.
"We’ve made this change to address this problem, which also saves the council and therefore the Council Tax payer money.

"The new bags also offer more capacity to residents for each container to allow them to recycle more per household."
Details on when each area in the borough will be revealed on the council website later this month.
