WINDSOR MP Adam Afriyie calls on locals to help get the country 'back on track'. He writes:
This week has seen much anticipation for the Prime Ministers announcement on Monday where he set out the roadmap for our exit from lockdown. Expectations are high and rightly so because it will be testament to how successfully we have managed to drive down hospitalisations and deaths, which are easing the pressures of Covid on the NHS significantly.
Further aiding this good news is the exceptional pace of the vaccine rollout. 16.8 million adults have now received their first jab, providing them with substantial protection.

As we move further into the year we should begin to see the effects of this campaign very visibly in hospital admission data and deaths.
This should make it easier for the Government to unlock our society and economy as more people will be protected from developing sever illness and complications which will subsequently put further pressure on the NHS.
This will only happen if each and every one of us takes up their offer of a coronavirus jab when offered one by the NHS. Of course, I understand that there could be natural hesitation, it is rational to do so.
But you should know that the vaccines have gone through the strictest testing and quality controls and have been independently approved as safe by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority, one of the most robust and respected regulators in the world.
Many people who turned down a jab initially are now taking up the offer, as you can still contact the NHS to receive one.

Doing so is crucial to hastening our return to normality. It’s not just about protecting you, it’s also about your family, friends, and other vulnerably people.
So please do get your jab and let’s get the UK back on track as soon as possible.
