EXCITING plans to bring a huge new a gymnastics and ninja club to Bracknell are still being developed despite setbacks caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Gymfinity Kids received permission to open a unit at the former Riley’s snooker hall in Princess Square in March 2020 after lodging revised plans for the play space in January.
Designs attached to the planning application showed more than 650 square metres of floor space is planned for the main gym area which was expected to be filled with several play facilities for children.
A parent viewing area was planned just beyond the entrance, and designs showed mums and dads could grab a bite to eat or a drink at the Express Cafe by the reception area.
Following permission being granted, a notice on Gymfinty’s website suggested the site would be opening in June 2020.

But then the plans went cold as Gymfinity temporarily closed in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The notice about the Bracknell location opening in June 2020 was removed from the Gymfinity site and replaced with a ‘coming soon’ label.
The News asked Gymfinity for an update on the progress of the plans.
In response, a spokesperson said: “Like many businesses, due to Covid-19 our top priority has been the health and safety of our members in our current clubs across the UK.
“We very much look forward to opening our Bracknell club in the future, for the moment we don’t have a confirmed date, we will only be able to make this decision once we reopen the business.”

Rob Morris, general manager at The Lexicon, added: “Due to Covid-19 and the subsequent restrictions, work on the Gymfinity unit in Princess Square has been delayed. We will share further updates as soon as this information becomes available.”
The addition of Gymfinity to Princess Square would mark another step in the transformation of the shopping centre, which has recently been refurbished.
Last week it was announced Sports Direct, GAME and Evans Cycles would replace the vacant Sainsbury’s store at Princess Square.
Plans for a Wimpy restaurant to be added at the shopping centre also took a step forward earlier this month.
