PLANS to construct a 3G football pitch at a secondary school in Woodley are expected to be approved this week.
Waingels College has applied for planning permission to set up the full size (100m x 64m) artificial grass football pitch that can be used during school hours.
They also want to allow football teams to use the pitch until 10pm on weekdays, 9pm on Saturdays and 6pm on Sundays and bank holidays.
There are plans for six floodlights (each 15 metres high) and a 4.5 metre high perimeter fence at the secondary school.

Wokingham Borough Council’s Planning Committee is expected to give the project the go ahead on Wednesday, March 10.
That’s because council planning officers have recommended the plans for approval.
The following three projects are also due to be approved at Wednesday's meeting.
New stable building
There are plans to set up a new stable building for eight horses at Loddon Court in Lambs Lane, Swallowfield.
The owner is applying for retrospective planning permission, because he has already built the base for the stable.
He also wants permission to use some of the land on the site as a paddock for horses and allow his sheep to continue grazing on the rest of the site.
According to the plans, the new stable and paddock will only be used by the owner’s family and he is not setting up a new business on the site.
One home becomes two
The owner of the bungalow at 34 Hilltop Road in Earley wants to split the building into two apartments.
Under the current plans, a three-bedroom apartment and a one-bedroom apartment will be constructed and four car parking spaces will be provided.
A planning application was submitted after the building was extended in July 2019.
Three people have objected, as they claim the bungalow is “very small” and this development would result in an “unacceptable increase in number of potential future residents”.
House extension
The owner of the three-bedroom house at 33 Cottesmore Road in Woodley wants planning permission for an extension.
He has plans for a one-storey side extension and a two-storey extension at the back.

Those plans were altered after objectors claimed the extended building would be “overbearing” and nearby properties would lose out on natural light.
The owner has agreed to reduce the width of the side extension and set it back another metre from the building line at the front of the property.
