A beauty contestant who made it all the way to the Miss England finals has revealed her makeup free self for a very worthy cause.

Alina Green from Priestwood won the equivalent of the Miss England title in January after the prestigious beauty pageant was changed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Arts University Bournemouth who also currently holds the Miss Dorset title won the competition by a public vote and judges placed her in the top 10 finals.

The 21-year-old cadet officer at Southampton University Officer Training Corps has also applied to join the British Army Reserves once she finishes her training.

Now, Alina wanted to share a makeup-free selfie to empower other women to feel comfortable in their own skin.

She said: “I wanted to show that you don’t have to always be perfect on social media despite what society tells us. We should embrace our natural beauty, and imperfections.

"It’s so hard these days do feel comfortable with how we look naturally with all the images of perfect influencers and models, when in reality they are heavily edited and wearing a lot of make-up; without it all they don’t tend to look like themselves.

"It’s easier said than done but I was to encourage people to love themselves and not compare themselves to others as everyone is beautiful, in their own unique way.”

The challenge was set up last week by Environmentally friendly sanitary products company Plastfree and Flawless Photography studios.

The two companies joined forces with Miss England to encourage contestants to go natural by posting no make up images of themselves on social media.

Angie Beasley, national organizer of the Miss England contest said: “This round in the Miss England contest encourages people to show us who they really are without the need to hide behind make up & filters on social media. The contestants are at home in lockdown like all of us and for some it’s a brave thing to do ”.
