Police officers and council workers prevented dozens of car cruisers from meeting in Wokingham last weekend.
Wokingham Borough Council said the illegal car meet was planned for Saturday, April 17, and it “could cause chaos on our roads and endanger our residents”.

In a statement released before Saturday, the council said the large gathering would breach Covid-19 regulations and could “potentially cause a surge in positive cases in the area”.
It was working with Thames Valley Police and Reading Borough Council to stop the drivers from getting into car parks and other areas where they could meet.
Reports of social media suggest the cruisers were looking to meet at Mereoak Park & Ride – but this has not been confirmed by the council.
A council spokeswoman said: “The meet did not happen in Wokingham borough and we believe that our actions helped reduce the chances of this large-scale event taking place that had the potential for a significant impact on our communities.
“We will continue to work with our partners, particularly Thames Valley Police, to prevent anti-social behaviour that negatively affects our residents.”
